Due to the Corona pandemic many people in Kenya have lost their jobs, some have closed their businesses and many things has changed. Leaving everyone living in a “New normal”.
The life has also changed to many around Nipe Tumaini. Most of our neighbors are low in-come earners, they live hand to mouth. Due to this pandemic they have been also left without job.
This made us At Nipe Tumaini to think on how we can help some of this families and especially those that their children come to our school.
In order to get a clear picture of the situation here is a true story.
In one our food distribution session which we had invited the the parents of our school children to come and receive their ration. As Benson was distributing the food, Eunice Wanjiku, Benson’s wife, was busy preparing Chai ( Swahili word for Tea).
After all the food had been distributed to all, Eunice showed up inviting the parents for a cup of Chai, by then it was past 5:30pm.
One of the young lady with a young child on her back declined the invitation because now that she had some maize she had no time for a cup of tea. She just wanted to rush to a maize mill before it was dark. This means they never had something left at home for supper.
When Benson heard that, he was really tuoched he went to the house brought two packets of maize flour gave it to her and looking directly to her he said ” You don’t have to go to the maize mill today you have the flour in your hands, just sit down and have the cup of Tea. By now the lady was relaxed. And she sat down for the cup of Chai.
This is what many people are going through during this time of the corona pandemic. It’s our prayer that this will come to an end and things turn to nolmacy.
We appreciate every donation no matter how little you may think it is. It has a great impact in one’s life.
